A YOUNG man has died in a single-vehicle accident in the Sunshine Coast hinterland this morning.


It is believed the 20-year-old victim was the only occupant in the car, which left the road and hit a tree on Brandenburg Rd in the Mooloolah Valley about 9am.

The victim sustained fatal head injuries.

The man’s death takes the state’s road toll to 39 so far this year, up six on the same time last year.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was seriously injured overnight north of Gympie.

Police said that the man crashed his bike along Curra Estate Road, Curra, about 8.45pm.

He was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serous neck and chest injuries. Police are still investigating the incident.
