Kidnapping, Torture, Murder of Civilians by Syrian Opposition Confirmed.
by Tony Cartalucci
March 20, 2012 – Human Right Watch (HRW), just as it did in Libya, waited until the very last possible moment to admit what the alternative media had been reporting for over a year – that Syria’s rebels are craven, torturing, kidnapping, murdering terrorists committing widespread and systematic atrocities not only against security forces, but against anyone suspected of supporting the Syrian government as well as randomly targeted civilians.
Image: Human Rights Watch knew all along that Syria’s opposition was armed and conducting a systematic campaign of kidnapping, torture, and mass murder but waited until the last possible moment to acknowledge it. As we can see, HRW is funded by George Soros’ Open Society as well as a myriad of corporate-funded foundations all disingenuously leveraging the cause of human rights to carry out their agenda of achieving global corporate-financial hegemony. (click on image to enlarge)
The HRW report titled, “Syria: Armed Opposition Groups Committing Abuses,” is broken into three parts, kidnapping, torture, and executions. And while the report attempts to focus mainly on atrocities carried out against security forces and government supporters, the mention of civilian victims is made as well. The report states:
“Abuses include kidnapping, detention, and torture of security force members, government supporters, and people identified as members of pro-government militias, called shabeeha. Human Rights Watch has also received reports of executions by armed opposition groups of security force members and civilians.”
Under the title “Kidnappings,” it is stated:
“Abuses include kidnapping, detention, and torture of security force members, government supporters, and people identified as members of pro-government militias, called shabeeha. Human Rights Watch has also received reports of executions by armed opposition groups of security force members and civilians.”
“Human Rights Watch also expressed concern about FSA [Free Syrian Army] kidnappings of Iranian nationals, some of whom the group has confirmed are civilians.”
Under “Executions,” HRW’s report describes the Syrian opposition’s practice of rounding up suspects and killing them without trial, generally on the grounds of confessions coerced through torture. Other executions are simply carried out as reprisals with no apparent offense beyond suspected affiliations being cited.
The report indicates that Syria’s opposition, like the NATO-backed rebels in Libya, are lawless, unprincipled, sectarian, extremists. They are far from “democracy activists” or “unarmed, helpless civilians,” and very far from being “victims” of a disproportionate use of force. From the very beginning of Syria’s unrest, the alternative media has covered what was systematic violence used by the opposition, from vandalism and arson, to sniper and bomb attacks and now full-blown armed insurrection. It is clear now, as even the Wall Street-London combine must admit, Syria’s opposition has been countered by Syrian security forces out of the necessity to restore order, not silence legitimate political dissent.
News of the HRW report has been muted, with most corporate-media outlets electing to downplay, spin, or obfuscate the true implications of the war crimes being carried out by Syria’s opposition. The implications are that NATO, led by the US, UK, France, and Turkey, as well as their proxy “Arab League,” have been backing torturers, kidnappers, and mass murderers. This should come as no surprise as it is confirmed members of Libya’s Al Qaeda affiliate, the NATO-backed Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, are now literally leading the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA).
With the Syrian opposition turning to car bombs and targeting populated city centers claiming scores of civilian lives, it is now clear that the West is also backing a terrorist campaign as well. Syria’s government could not in good conscience withdraw troops from areas the terrorist opposition is operating in, especially now that it is confirmed this opposition is kidnapping, torturing and arbitrarily killing civilians.
To an international community that has defended, even facilitated such thuggery for now over a year, they are the least qualified to propose any further meddling or “solution” to the ongoing unrest. This includes Kofi Annan’s dubious “peace” mission which has been recently exposed as a ploy to rehabilitate Western-back militants for a second round of violence.

Another video of “Africans” begging the US to invade occupy Africa.
by Tony Cartalucci
March 20, 2012 – Human Rights Watch (HRW) during the height of the Kony 2012 hysteria, dusted off one of its old propaganda videos titled, “Joseph Kony – LRA” uploaded on November of 2010, to try and capitalize on the attention Invisible Children raised earlier this month. However, the Kony 2012 campaign imploded just as fast, and perhaps even more spectacularly than it rose – with vast numbers of people pointing out the untenable narrative it attempted to peddle and the fact that it served as nothing more than a pretext for an expanded US AFRICOM presence in Africa.
Both Human Rights Watch and Invisible Children are funded by Wall Street speculator George Soros through his Open Society Institute and the myriad of corporate-funded foundations it funnels money through. At least one foundation behind Invisible Children (.pdf, page 22), “Enough,” who is also involved in the George Clooney promotion of a US AFRICOM intervention in oil-rich Sudan, actually counts Human Rights Watch a partner.
Image: HRW’s partners include Wall Street speculator George Soros’ Open Society Institute which also funds Invisible Children through a myriad of proxy foundations. Note on the right-hand side the “Dear Obama” video which is featured below. It was originally uploaded in 2010, but has just recently been featured on HRW’s website in the midst of the recent Kony 2012 hysteria.
After Invisible Children collapsed under the weight of overexposure – simply the sheer volume of people scrutinizing and exposing the fraud being peddled – we can begin to appreciate the necessity the Wall Street-London elite see in cultivating a vast array of redundant “human rights” fronts. This is to compartmentalize catastrophes like Invisible Children, and just like a ship that loses an entire section to flooding, it can be sealed off and the agenda kept afloat. In this case, the AFRICOM agenda can still keep moving forward even with “all hands lost” at Invisible Children.
HRW video has Africans “begging” for AFRICOM to carry out its mission.
Video: HRW’s video features “Africans” operating under the false perception that the US President is a global arbiter. These “Africans” are also suspiciously eager for the US to intervene in their respective nations and “bring security” – which just so happens to be AFRICOM’s stated objective.
Examining the mission statement of US Africa Command (AFRICOM), as provided on their official website we see:
Africa Command’s activities, plans, and operations are centered on two guiding principles:
1. A safe, secure, and stable Africa is in our national interest.
2. Over the long run, it will be Africans who will best be able to address African security challenges and that AFRICOM most effectively advances U.S. security interests through focused security engagement with our African partners.
Upon watching the HRW propaganda video we see “Africans” addressing President Obama regarding atrocities being committed by Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). As they plea for help, they claim the indigenous people are powerless and incapable of stopping “the war,” and that Africans “want” Obama to intervene. One character conveniently wearing an Obama medallion literally says, “with tears in our eyes, we ask the President to end this terrible suffering and bring security to our region.”
“Bring security to our region,” indeed – which of course just so happens to be AFRICOM’s stated mission objective. When we consider that Kony was last believed to be in the Congo and hasn’t been seen in 6 years (4 years when HRW uploaded this video in 2010) and that the war in Uganda against the LRA has long since ended, it is clear that HRW, like Invisible Children, is grossly mischaracterizing the alleged plight in the region to serve as a pretext for AFRICOM expansion.
Like Invisible Children, Human Rights Watch is a corporate-backed fraud.
Just like the Kony 2012 fraud and Invisible Children, Human Rights Watch merely leverages legitimate concerns regarding human rights to carry out the neo-imperial ambitions of their corporate sponsors. HRW claims that they have “gathered evidence at massacre sites,” but seem to have overlooked the very real and quite extensive abuses and atrocities committed by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. In fact, while Kony has been MIA for years, Museveni is currently carrying out mass displacements affecting tens of thousands of Ugandans as he auctions off their land to British and American corporations.
That HRW and Invisible Children ignore this inconvenient truth, as well as propose supporting, funding, and further arming Museveni who has undemocratically reigned over Uganda for nearly 30 years while selling out his nation, exposes the true mission of US AFRICOM. It is the continued pillaging of Africa started by European Empires during the “scramble for Africa.”

Image: Cecil Rhodes whose British South Africa Company (BSAC) (1889-1965) helped conquer a commanding swath of the African continent in the name of the British Empire. His megalomania was “honored” by the British later naming an entire nation after him, “Rhodesia,” now modern-day Zimbabwe.

Image: The coat of arms of the British South Africa Company (BSAC) (1889-1965) – a predecessor of modern neo-imperialism. The BSAC was chartered by the British Empire and lent its resources and capabilities to help loot the natural wealth of Africa. This mirrors exactly AFRICOM and the legion of corporate-backed NGOs carrying out the modern-day looting of Africa. Note the terms “justice” and “freedom” used upon the company’s coat of arms. Humanitarian concerns have long been used to mask wide scale human exploitation. The term “commerce” is also present in both the coat of arms pictured above and in the intents of AFRICOM Vice Admiral Robert T. Moeller openly declaring AFRICOM’s guiding principle as “protecting the free flow of natural resources from Africa to the global market.”
Video: “Colonialism in 10 Minutes: The Scramble For Africa” explains why Africa is the way it is and that the “scramble” is still very much ongoing today. AFRICOM, Kony 2012, and HRW are just the latest tricks and perpetrators of what can easily be described as the rape of a continent.
When we look at the history of Africa and the genesis of the current strife being manipulated and used as a pretext for continued Western intervention, we will realize that it was the West that created many of these problems in the first place. It then stands to reason that the West’s return in the form of Wall Street-funded “humanitarian NGOs” and US AFRICOM are the least likely solutions to improving the long-plighted continent.

Nobody will know what Defense Secretary Leon Panetta felt after getting a report that a terrorist attack had been timed to his arrival at UK Camp Bastion air base situated in the South of Afghanistan. An Afghan translator, who served at the facility, tried to get his pick-up to the runway and direct it to the landing aircraft. The vehicle got through the concrete fences and rushed at great speed at the servicemen meeting Panetta.
For some unknown reason the pick-up moved aside to the ditch and caught fire. The head of Pentagon was unharmed but prudently refused to visit other military installations. It was hardly soothing to know that the one who tried to kill him probably was not a militant terrorist but rather an Afghan, expressing his attitude towards American “liberators”.
By and large, the goal of Panetta’s visit to Afghanistan was to placate public opinion in the country and sort out the relations with President Karzay who had demanded to pull out the coalition forces after Sergeant Robert Bales had massacred peaceful civilians in Kandagar province. He got angry because his friend’s leg had been torn off as a result of mine explosion and decided to settle the score with the Afghans taking revenge for the moral wound killing 19 civilians, twelve of them children. It was the last straw adding to the anger hitting the streets of Afghan cities earlier. The death toll of the two weeks of disturbances was no less than 30. The US President’s public apology changed nothing.
The Afghans have something to hate for those who intruded into their country and have been occupying it for the second dozen of years. The videos of US Marines urinating on a dead Afghan, mockery of Koran by a US pastor, Koran’s burning by US soldiers, regular night raids and living quarters searching, GIs shooting point blank at unarmed people, including children – all of it has led to external manifestation of strong hatred between the population and the occupants that dooms the West’s adventure in Afghanistan to miserable failure…
Leaks from a number of NATO Afghanistan situation ”operational” reports appeared in the Western media.
The most impressive of them is the conclusion that all coalitions “successes” and Western multibillion expenditure will be brought to nought after 2014. Assessing the situation the NATO experts point out the following:
- The Taliban leaders often have residences in immediate vicinity of the coalition’s key installations. It speaks of the occupants total inability to neutralize the resistance;
- The number of Afghans willing to join the Taliban ranks is growing. In faraway areas the government rules only on paper. The Taliban is a sole master there and the sympathy for it is on the rise among common people. The everyday life of Afghans starting with cell phone melodies to videos and songs is permeated by the Taliban influence;
- Wide spread corruption in state agencies, impunity and mutual protection among state bureaucrats that makes possible to get away even with murder – the whole lot of it has pushed people towards the Taliban. Corruption is spread in courts and common Afghans have nothing to do but go to “shadow” Taliban courts for justice. Comparing Karzay’s state “justice” with the Taliban field courts, the Afghans say the Taliban death verdict for a thief is fast and merciless. The Karzay’s justice may drag on for a hundred years and there is no guarantee a thief or a criminal will be found guilty and punished;
- No matter there is an occupational regime, the “shadow” Taliban administrations have established control in many provinces and rule with success. They solve the everyday life problems, gather taxes, judge the civil litigation matters. They are flexible and responsive. They quickly dismiss their representatives claimed to be corrupted or prone to position abuse. Nothing like this happens with government officials;
- The sympathy for the Taliban among population is deep. A Taliban fighter will never be given away to NATO or the government by his native villagers. The Taliban Sharia FM radio broadcast to the compatriots starts with the words that the message is addressed to renegades in the Afghan government, but not to those who are Taliban’s friend in its ranks.
- The Afghan government is sure the Taliban will return. That’s why many top officials want to collaborate. They are involved in getting suicide bombers to the places where terrorist acts are going to take place, as well as in arms trade and drug trafficking. It’s very important they provide the Taliban with secret information about military planning;
- The Karzay government is not very keen on establishing order in the areas left by the occupational forces. The Afghan police hit by illiteracy, desertion, drugs and infiltration by the Taliban supporters is not capable of fulfilling its functions and is not trusted by people. Police and army sell arms to the Taliban;
- The Pakistan special services play an active role in supporting the Taliban. According to Karzay till the attempts to make Pakistan agree to stop this support are futile, the Taliban will go on increasing its influence.
Leon Panetta, who was lucky enough to avoid collision with the self-taught suicide – terrorist, had one more clandestine mission – to make the utmost to prevent the avalanche-like advance of crisis in Afghanistan till the US presidential elections this fall. Otherwise the chances for his boss Barack Obama re-election could become rather blur.
But it’s already evident the avalanche-like crisis escalation cannot be prevented. The sudden Taliban refusal to open a bureau in Qatar as a springboard for talks with Americans confirms the fact. It appeared the talks were on the brink of start and some kind of agreement concerning the coalition forces evacuation or prevention of collaborators’ persecution would be achievable. The burning of Koran and sergeant Robert Bales frustrated the plans. The Taliban’s refusal could mean only one thing: the Americans were to expect new “surprises” after the failed attempt to kill Leon Panetta. The Taliban will not fail to support the anger against the occupants with deeds. All installations of the coalition are put on high alert to counter the terrorist threat.
There were some achievements as a result of the visit. For instance, Hamid Karzay took back his demand to withdraw the NATO forces from provinces. Now these forces will stay. Contrary to what the Afghan President said his army could hardly cope with the situation without the occupants help in case the Taliban finally comes out of “the shadow” on the ground.
This time Leon Panetta was lucky enough to successfully take off and go home. It’s a good thing by itself. But if asked what changed as a result of his visit the answer would be – nothing. It was something else they expected in Washington.
Afghanistan has become an absolutely alien and hostile world for the NATO soldiers they dream of saying goodbye to as soon as they can. In its turn the Taliban is preparing to come to their help in case they hesitate. No doubt it’ll do its best to expedite the withdrawal. The previously unplanned Leon Panetta’s visit to Afghanistan confirmed once more that the US and NATO’s “mission of freedom”, that was announced worldwide with such fanfare in 2001, could have only one ignominious result.

Food Freedom
With some creative thinking, French dairy farmer Michel Cantaloube bought a couple raw milk vending machines from Italy and in two years boosted his annual revenues by 25%.
He decided to do this after a 2007 European Commission directive made it legal for member states to sell raw milk.
Cantaloube sells 200 liters a day (about 53 gallons) through vending machines that he restocks every morning, reported Laetitia Mailhes. Even better, electronic chips keep him informed, in real time via cell phone, of the milk’s temperature and volume in each machine.
The vending machines in France are tightly regulated with thrice-monthly inspections and an “extra in-depth analysis every quarter,” says Mailhes. The herds are inspected monthly and the milking facility once a year.
Raw milk dispensers provide containers, or you can use your own. The Bovine found a 2010 video showing one machine that “moos” when dispensing its milk.
DF Italia is one of several manufacturers of a variety of raw milk dispensers, including the one pictured above. Some of them are self-cleaning and some come with rustic housing. (For vino fans, the firm also sells wine dispensers.)
From his 50-head Holstein herd, Cantaloube now supplies a popular grocery chain with the vending machine. The unique source of fresh milk draws customers to the store, which provides free space and electricity for the dispenser. He later began selling his raw milk to local restaurants and is moving into the raw yogurt market, as well.
“The local dairy processor was buying my milk [for] 0.24 euro/liter at the time I set up my first vending machine,” he told Mailhes. “Overnight, I was selling 200 liters of milk per day at 1 euro/liter directly to consumers.”
France has had fresh milk vending machines for years, as this image from a 2008 travelog from shows:
After attending an international artisan cheese trade show held in Miami last year, Charlie Adler reported, “Prior to WW II, virtually all French cheeses consumed in their country were unpasteurized raw-milk cheeses; today only 7% are raw-milk.”
Speaking at the convention, Veronique Richez-Lerouge, president of Fromages de Terroirs, a French organization promoting traditionally produced local cheese, asserts that raw milk and cheese are better for us than “dead” pasteurized products. She blames food “safety” authorities for their fear of microbes, despite that the body needs the microbes found in raw dairy.
Canadian raw milk producer Paul Noble says it simply enough, “If God had intended for us to drink pasteurized milk, he would have put a pasteurizer on the cow.”
Ireland Joins the Milk Wars
“Raw milk production is a very real and viable business model for small farmers,” says Sheridan’s Cheesemongers of Ireland.
When selling to co-ops and processors, farmers get between 33 and 35 cents per liter. But, “raw milk is being sold direct from the farmer at a retail price of approximately €1.50 – €2.00 per litre,” which is only slightly higher than pasteurized, homogenized, commercially-processed milk.
Though EU directive EC 178/2002 rescinded national bans on raw milk sales, Irish food “safety” authorities are now trying to reinstate the ban, and are meeting with fierce opposition in the slow food movement. Below is a video report by RTE TV:
Several groups, including the Campaign for Raw Milk in Ireland, are working to stop regulators from banning a product that humans have traded and consumed for thousands of years. They’ve posted a petition [pdf] that Irish voters can use to collect signatures and submit to the Minister for Agriculture Fisheries Food, Simon Coveney.
Or, folks can write their representatives directly. (Sample letters here, find your Teachta Dála here.) Coveney can be reached at 01 6183753, or via email at simon.coveney@oir.ie or info@agriculture.gov.ie.
In the US, pasteurized factory milk is adulterated with drugs and genetically modified ingredients. Drug-free and GMO-free organic milk (but pasteurized and homogenized) sells for between $7 and $8 a gallon, while fresh raw milk sells for $10.
In Canada, food “safety” authorities have also criminalized the sale of raw milk harassing, fining and imprisoning small dairy producers.
“We don’t have a Hitler we can blame,” says Canadian raw milk producer Michael Schmidt. “We have a faceless bureaucracy which works with cold-hearted, intellectual tactics to destroy this country right at its core and it starts with the food supply.”
One business strategy that has paid off for raw dairy farmers, private food clubs and herd shares against control-freak regulators is turning customers and share-owners into food freedom warriors, David Gumpert points out. With the internet, patrons are able to immediately organize events, including email campaigns, to protect their supply of fresh food. The strategy has turned the top-down approach of most governments into “connecting and collaborating” with the public.
Raw Milk Safety
Raw milk is filled with probiotics that elevate it to the level of being a superfood, so the milk wars are not about safety, as corporate-owned government would have us believe. This is purely an effort to monopolize the dairy industry on behalf of business giants involved in milk processing, including the biotech and pharmaceutical industries who adulterate the product with their particular brand of toxins.
You can hear more details on the safety of raw milk in a debate sponsored by Harvard Food Law Society last month. Two anti-raw figures, one a lawyer and the other a regulator, competed with Sally Fallon and David Gumpert, both avid fresh milk fans.
Comparing persecuted Wisconsin dairy farmer Vernon Hershberger to Rosa Parks, columnist Joe Orso says, “Whatever your personal beliefs about raw milk, it’s important to remember this: The debate is primarily about the right to choose your food…” Amen to that.
Fear-mongering by the US Centers for Disease Control got blasted by Prison Planet last month when it showed how pasteurized milk is 150 times more contaminated than fresh milk, linking to several videos. Last November, Organic Pastures Dairy owner Mark McAfee exposed the CDC’s lie about two deaths from raw milk, which were actually caused by queso fresco, a raw cheese often made for personal use and sometimes called “bathtub cheese.”
While Wall Street has crashed the economy in the US and around the world with its previously-illegal derivatives trading, raw milk dispensers provide a way for small business farmers to boost their income from a specialty food that promotes health.
Unfortunately for the US, food “safety” agencies run by biotech lobbyists are raiding private buying clubs with guns drawn, incarcerating and fining the operators, and torturing senior citizens involved in fresh milk distribution.
Agtivist John Wells writes, “The government has given rights of personhood to corporations. Now, comes part two, the flipside. The government now is working to remove sovereign rights from real people…. In fact, the [US Food and Drug Administration] is asserting in court in another raw milk case that there is no fundamental right to one’s bodily and physical health.”
Hopefully, US sovereigns will join their European cousins by continuing to assert the right to produce and trade fresh, unadulterated milk that humans have safely consumed for millennia.

As warmongers plot to destroy Syria, Syrians face only one choice.
by Tony Cartalucci
Editor’s Note: Before considering the US military options in Syria, it would be instructive to re-read this article from March 21, 2011 titled, “Libyan War: Globalists Bluffing their way to Victory,” to understand the true purpose of these current military options and how they were used effectively to win the otherwise unwinnable military campaign in Libya. Through terror and fear, the West was able to fold superior fighting forces that could have held out for years had they stood united.
March 19, 2012 – Corporate-funded think-tank and purveyor of US foreign policy, the Brookings Institution, had in 2009 literally blueprinted the strategy with which the West would slowly strangle and topple the government of Iran. Throughout the pages of their report, “Which Path to Persia?” everything from sanctions, to purposefully provoking war with Iran, to stoking US-backed uprisings, to funding, training, and arming US State Department-listed terror organizations was plotted before being promptly executed.
Amongst those signing their names to this treasonous conspiracy to commit mass-murder against a sovereign nation was Michael O’Hanlon. Besides contributing extensively to the West’s corporate-media, he has no operational experience to speak of militarily, economically, or even administratively. He has never once shouldered a rifle for his nation, nor truly jeopardized his life for any cause he seemingly has no problem having tens of thousands of others die for in his stead. He is the quintessential imperial scribe.
Image: Also out of the Brookings Institution, Middle East Memo #21 “Assessing Options for Regime Change (.pdf),” makes no secret that “responsibility to protect” is but a pretext for long-planned regime change. Admissions that Syria’s rebels are carrying out an increasing amount of sectarian violence (page 8), that Kofi Annan’s mission to Syria is in fact to establish an occupied “safe haven” on Syrian territory to launch further attacks (page 4), as well as the involvement of Al Qaeda on the side of rebels are noteworthy points. The report would also state in reference to arming the rebels, “alternatively, the United States might calculate that it is still worthwhile to pin down the Asad regime and bleed it, keeping a regional adversary weak, while avoiding the costs of direct intervention,” which contradicts the entire premise of the “humanitarian war” and the “responsibility to protect (R2P)” by purposefully prolonging violent conflict.
O’Hanlon’s most recent work involves spelling out the “military options” the US has in regards to Syria in an op-ed aptly titled, “What Are Our Military Options in Syria?”
The West purposefully destabilized Syria, and is currently perpetuating extensive bloodshed through militant proxies funded, trained, and armed by the West and operating on Syria’s borders as well as within Syria itself. As the bloodshed mounts, the West is now insidiously using the carnage to justify more overt intervention to execute long planned regime change.
Just as it was spelled out and promptly executed in O’Hanlon’s “Which Path to Persia?,” the operation in Syria involves almost identical elements altered only slightly to suit Syria’s geopolitical predisposition. US-backed uprisings, armed militants, and sanctions have all already been set in motion with overt military options being all that is left on the table.
The military options O’Hanlon envisions to achieve the overthrow of Syria’s government include:
1. A punitive naval or air operation to encourage a coup against Assad: An outright act of war designed to completely cut off Syria, including its millions of civilians, from importing or exporting anything. There are also planned airstrikes designed to psychologically shake Assad’s allies and panic them into defecting and instead “share power” with the US-backed opposition.
Of course, O’Hanlon must perceive the Syrian government as supreme ignoramuses to have seen how “sharing” was carried out in another Brookings project, Libya, and still count this as a viable alternative to holding fast against foreign-funded militants. It was during NATO’s campaign against Libya that many defectors ended up dead the absolute first moment their services were no longer required -or sometimes even beforehand. Case in point, General Abdul Fattah Younis.

Image: General Abdul Fattah Younis‘ reward for accepting offers to “power share” with the Libyan rebels was his assassination.
2. A broader Balkans-like campaign to help depose Assad. And by this, O’Hanlon of course means, a “Libyan-like campaign,” but would rather focus on the Balkans because it is further in hindsight and much more has been done to rewrite its historical outcome as “favorable.” Evoking the NATO-led genocidal killing spree that just unfolded in Libya, complete with the destruction of several major cities, would again remind potential defectors in Syria the cost of allowing their nation to fall into NATO hands.
That cost would be the plunging of Syria into perpetual division, instability, violence, and an uncertain political future that could see any defector a hero one minute and at the wrong end of a rifle the next. There will be no power sharing, there will be no seats at the table for “defectors,” and as Libya has proven, it is very unlikely there will even be a table for seats to be placed around in the first place.
3. Creation of a safe zone for Syrian civilians: O’Hanlon indirectly admits that this would only be done as a means to eventually include one or both of the above mentioned options. This was already stated in “Genocidal Turkish Government Eyes Syria,” where it appears that NATO-member Turkey has been elected to create just such a zone from which increasing hostilities could be conducted.
What O’Hanlon is really saying…
What must be remembered is that O’Hanlon is not writing this for the consideration of the Pentagon. Instead, he is specifically writing this so that pundits and media outlets can repeat what is essentially extortion directed at Syria’s establishment. The purpose of this exercise is to prey on the fear of Assad’s political allies and those across Syria’s business community who have so far stood behind their nation’s government.
It is hoped that the West can bluff their way into folding opposition by presenting them with a difficult and costly military campaign verses the alternative of “power sharing.” Unfortunately for O’Hanlon and his superiors, Syria has already seen the dead end “power sharing” led to in Libya, a dead end Libya will remain in well into the foreseeable future. The rationale of businessmen capitulating to see UN sanctions relieved is also absurd considering the inevitable fracturing and perpetual destabilization that will wreck both the country and its economy should the current government fall.
Syria’s opposition is entirely dependent on foreign fighters, foreign arms, foreign funds, and an international consensus that allows such foreign resources to continue flowing to them unabated. Already cracks have begun to show and now the West’s only chance is to psychologically break Assad’s power base through threats and perhaps even a limited military incursion. The catch is, should Syria remain united, order can be restored and nothing short of total war waged by the West could prevent it.
Syria has only one option.
Imperialism’s favorite trick throughout time has been to purposefully mire a targeted nation in internal strife to weaken it before preying on, and ruling over, both sides. This can be seen encapsulated in the following ancient Chinese stratagem:
When a country is beset by internal conflicts, when disease and famine ravage the population, when corruption and crime are rampant, then it will be unable to deal with an outside threat. This is the time to attack. -The 36 Strategies, #5 Loot a Burning House
While it would likewise suit Assad’s opponents, it is particularly important for those who have made the decision to stand by Syria’s ruling government to stay the course of restoring order and pursuing political solutions.
The West has gone too far, its credibility and operational capacity waning by the day, it has no choice but to continue pushing forward in hopes that all before it lack the fortitude to stand up and fight. The West will not stop until either Syria is divided and destroyed or the West itself crumbles in the midst of its untenable imperial conquest. Defection, capitulation, and failure are not options. Syria’s fate will be that of Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, or worse if it falls. Unity is Syria’s only option.

In this episode, Max Keiser and co-host, Stacy Herbert, discuss ripping out client eyeballs and losing millions for a free breakfast; maggots of risk and plastic financial apartheid. In the second half of the show Max talks to filmmakers William Gagan and Geoff Shively about their crowd funded journey to Syria and ‘fake’ activists and, with the introduction of anti-free speech laws in Chicago, the filmmakers discuss the small drone helicopters they have acquired for reporting on the NATO summit.

A group of artists have made a poignant political statement by staging a guerrilla exhibition at the derelict Anglo Irish Bank headquarters.
The collection of paintings was put in place on Saturday around the outside of the empty building on North Wall Quay, Dublin.
It is understood the numerous artists involved are hoping to spark a debate about Government agency Nama and the state of Ireland as a nation following its economic collapse.

Damascus, 5:50 p.m. – Several hundred Libyan Al-Qaeda fighters (former Libyan Islamic Fighting Group) have arrived in recent weeks at various hotels in Amman (Jordan). They suddenly moved out on Friday, 16 March 2012 to relocate to an unknown destination.
Simultaneously, a coming and going of buses, throughout the days of Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th of March, transported at least 2,000 combatants to a “refugee” camp in Hatay (Turkey). This ferrying continues, and is managed by the Turkish Army.
Colonel Riyadh Al Asaad, who had been temporarily assigned to house arrest following the Syrian-Turkish agreement of 7 February, is again in full command of the Free “Syrian” Army from Turkey.
It is estimated that the forces already assembled are constituted by 500 to 1000 Takfirists at the Jordanian border and between 2000 and 3000 at the Turkish border. No significant jihadi group has been reported at the Lebanese border, the Lebanese Army having dismantled in recent weeks an assembly area and a communications base.
Hundreds of foreign fighters still remain on Syrian soil after the fall of the Islamic Emirate of Baba Amr and the cleanup of Deraa and Idlib. Although totally disorganized and running out of steam, they are still capable of organizing these new troops attacks.
The Syrian National Army is in the process of strengthening its borders to prevent any infiltration into the country.
